Tron vs Yawgmoth 2-0
This article is part of a series on Tron.
Game 1
From the Hedge Maze I initially think I'm playing against neobrand and so I want to ramp fast into casting Thought-Knot Seer. This is why I grab Ugin's Labyrinth. If I knew it was ritual, I would take the second Talisman of Resilience.
Opponent has turn 2 ritual and a Force of Negation exiling a Shardless Agent. This means, their opening hand must have had:
Here I make a mistake and don't sac the Expedition Map in response, but even if I did, it wouldn't change my turn 3. I get a Forest but never really come online because I can't get {4} for Karn, and the ritual aggro beats down.
I don't think game 1 was winnable, even if I'd played better.
Game 2
I side in Disruptor Flute and out Relic of Progenitus and 2 Thought-Knot Seer.
Key mistake is not going to six to find Disruptor Flute. Should have done that. I get to discard a Harbinger of the Seas and, even though the opponent has a second one, they don't really find the mana to cast it until a lot later.
The second harbinger is causing me to keep mana open for Kozilek's Command, as I keep expecting them to find a third land, but they never do. It's not like I have anything else to cast, though, as I keep drawing lands.
I come close to lethal, but opponent is able to bring out enough blockers that, even if I managed to remove Collector Ouphe earlier and then cast Devourer of Destiny, I would never get through for the final hit.
I definitely make mistakes, like not using Dismember to save my Thought-Knot Seer, but it seems like the opponent had enough creatures that there was never a real opening.
I don't see any line that would have won game 2, other than mulligan to a better hand.
Recap
The lesson here seems to be to mulligan to find sideboard cards? But even then, neither game felt winnable.
