Energy vs Energy 1-2
This article is part of a series on Boros Energy.
Game 1
On the play, won with aggro. Opponent was unlucky:
- I drew 3 Galvanic Discharge and a Static Prison.
- They only had white lands
Game 2
On the draw. Sideboarded incorrectly (Wrath of the Skies, Surgical Extraction and The Legend of Roku for a Blood Moon and 2 Ragavans) I think, should've brought Celestial Purge also.
Kept a slow hand with a Static Prison, which removed a Ragavan, that would later come back. Not great.
Opponent had 2 Galvanic Discharge and a bunch of threats, but didn't draw a third land until turn 5.
By the time I played Legend of Roku on turn 4 the game wasn't surviveable I think. I was hoping to find a Wrath of the Skies, but didn't.
Mistakes:
Should have sideboarded more:
- Celestial Purge, maybe replacing Static Prison
- Another Wrath of the Skies trimming a third Ragavan
Game 3
On the play. Messed up sideboarding and I'm not sure what deck I played with, because MTGO just started the game.
The whole game, I drew 18 cards and only ever saw two lands.
The game seemed winnable, but opponent found [Wrath fo the Skies]. Afterwards, I had threats to recover, but no mana.
Mistakes:
This game didn't feel winnable without a third land. The probability of not finding a third land in 18 draws is $0.04%$, given 23 lands in the deck.
