Boros Energy vs Song of Creation 1-2
This is the latest article in a series on Boros Energy.
Oh boy, here we go again.
Game 1
I was going to win on turn 4 with a linear aggro line, but opponent comboed off on turn 3.
Game 2
Still not sure what to sideboard. Damping Sphere definitely, High Noon for the same reason. Reprieve could stop the combo at the right moment maybe?
Also brought Wear/Tear against the Song of Creation.
I think game 1 is winnable if you remove Jace, Wielder of Mysteries, but I don't think their game plan is the same in game 2.
Siding ut the Blood Moon might not have been the right call - it is a three-color deck.
I get Ajani and High Noon down, both get blown up by Engineered Explosives. I still win by linear aggro.
Game 3
I again get a High Noon to stick and even connect with a ragavan.
My key mistake is not blowing up the Urza's Saga earlier. Probably should have done that instead of High Noon on turn 2. Afterwards I just die to constructs and Tamiyo's clues. Embarrasing.
Summary
- Game 1 didn't feel winnable. I kept a good hand and had turn 4 lethal. Opponent was just faster.
- Game 2 I might have overcommitted to the board with the Ajani?
- Game 3:
- I underestimated Urza's Saga.
- Not sure if shooting Emry instead of Tamiyo was the right call
- Possibly Thraben Charm on Urza's Saga was a better turn 2 play than High Noon.
